Ayurveda quite literally translates as the knowledge of life
It is the oldest healing system originating from India and is known as the sister science to Yoga. Ayurveda is more than 5000 years old, and is the natural go to system in the East for restoring balance to Body & Mind.
Balancing Mind and Body through Ayurveda's Elements and Doshas
Ayurveda incorporates diet, lifestyle and the use of herbs to bring the mind and body back to equilibrium. Ayurveda works with the 5 elements Ether, Air, Fire, Water & Earth. These elements are found in all living things and are the foundation of our own bodies constitution, In Ayurveda we break them down to 3 doshas, Vata (air & ether), Pitta (water & fire), Kapha (water & earth). Every individual has a unique constitution, our own blueprint made up of the 3 doshas. When we are born our constitution is known as prakruti, this is our natural state of balance, it is established from a combination of our parents prakruti, their mental and emotional state at the time of conception, the position of the planets, the place and time of birth all determines your prakruti.

Your prakruti determines your personal traits, like body frame, temperament, digestion, personality, physical stamina, approach to life. Your prakruti just like your DNA does not change. However, the various factors influencing your prakruti does. Like the environment you live in, your diet, the seasons, your age and lifestyle. All of these factors can lead to an imbalance known as Vikruti, this is the term used for your current state of balance.

We live in a world that’s ever changing this leads to an imbalance in our doshas. The aim of Ayurveda is to bring Vikruti back to its normal state, your normal state of balance.

The system of Ayurveda and its natural ways have been used to treat people for over 5000 years.
Revitalize Health & Balance Digestion with Ayurveda
Ayurveda particularly works with keeping the digestive fire working to its full efficiency, when our digestive fire (Agni) is weak we can often feel sluggish & heavy after eating, suffer with indigestion or reflux and bloating, when our digestive fire is not working properly we are literally storing undigested food, which creates toxins (ama) this leads to aggravating our doshas and can be seen by the body showing a health conditions, such as skin irritation, hormonal imbalance, food intolerances, digestive issues, or further problems.
Ayurveda looks at the whole person, there is no one size fits all. During your Ayurveda consultation we will be looking at all aspects of your life from diet, lifestyle, work commitments, family relationships, mental wellbeing, digestion, your strength and stamina, cravings, sleep, to elimination. To fully bring the body and mind back to balance we need to treat the mind and body from within. Finding your unique constitution and addressing what is causing various symptoms to manifest in mind and body and treating the root not just masking its symptoms.
